Copycat Port Test
Use the links to the left to test ports that Surpass Copycat requires
for connection to remote databases. TCP ports 210, 2200, and 7090
are the ones most commonly used by database servers accessible through
Copycat, so you'll want to make sure that you can contact remote servers
through all three of these ports from workstations that use Copycat.
Make sure that TCP ports 210, 2200, and 7090 are open for outbound
traffic.
If the ports are available from the workstation where you are
performing this test, then you'll receive messages saying that the port
test was successful. If there are any errors, then you'll know
that those ports are being blocked by your firewall, gateway, proxy
server, security software, or operating system features (such as Windows
firewall). You
won't be able to use Copycat until the ports are open to outbound TCP
communication. If this is not clear to you, please consult with
your technical advisor.
Due to the wide variety of firewall and network security measures on
the market today, we regret that Surpass Support cannot provide specific
support for your third-party security system. However, this port test will
give you an indication of whether or not there is a
communication-related problem that is keeping you from using Copycat
normally.
If you are using a software-based firewall that restricts access to
individual programs, then it is possible that this port test may be
successful because your web browsing software is not restricted, but
Copycat still won't establish a connection because the Copycat program
itself is actually prohibited from accessing the Internet. If your
firewall blocks individual programs from accessing the Internet, then
you should be absolutely sure that COPYCAT.EXE (found in your Surpass
application folder) is allowed to access the Internet.
